I have just been given an old Dawes bike dating from I guess the mid 70's to the early 1980's. This bike is equipped with some gen stuff but I am intrigued by the Stronglight chainset. The 5 arm spider is very like the Super-Competition 57 but the cranks have a single machine finished flute with the word Stronglight in a modern typeface. There are no other markings bar the crank length stampings. I am hopeless on what to me is modern stuff any ideas please. The frame is also equipped with the nice ITM plastic sleeved interchangeable seat pillar. This was a great idea for swapping the saddle and pin easily from bike to bike. Can you still purchase the inserts?
