The front wheel of a 1963 Claud Butler I have had in storage developed
some rust spots on the chrome rim. The rust comes off easily with fine
sandpaper, but this exposes the underlying metal. What is the best course
of action? Should I sand off the rust and then coat the exposed metal with
some sealant (like what)? Or should I use a chemical like Simonize Chrome
Cleaner to remove the rust, and then coat the exposed metal? Or should I
coat the rust spots to prevent further oxidation? I do not want to spend
the money to rechrome the rim.
Thank you.
