Subject: [CR]Dating a JACKSON....

No, not "Flash" Janet, nor her kid lovin' Peter Pan wannabee bro, but a BOB JACKSON.

I just picked a nice BOB JACKSON 753 road frameset (thanks Fernando!), and I'm guessing it's from around '78-'82 or thereabouts. Serial # 15531. Anyone have a Jackson with a close serial #, that they know the build date of? Also, was Bob Jackson a little late to catch onto the "more gears is more better" craze? This frame has 120mm rear spacing....I know other builders were using 126mm years earlier. Could it be since at that time 753 was still super-light exotic steel, a six speed rear was considered unnecessary extra weight for that bike? Thanks!

Cheers,
