I am interested in establishing an order of aluminum cranks, especially (but not limited to) those with square taper, based on their introduction. Here are the ones I know, with sources for the dating in parentheses:

1932 Stronglight (later called 49D) (from article in La Pedale Touristique and ads in same magazine) 1938 Rene Herse (introduced at that year's Technical Trials, reports in Le Cycliste) 1947 Duprat Maniplume (cottered) (introduced at that year's Technical Trials as "new," reports by Rebour in Le Cycle) 1958 Campagnolo Record (available 1959?) (reports by Rebour in Le Cycle) 1959/1960 TA with pear-shaped axle (cottered) (Rebour in Le Cycle and Le Cycliste) 1962 TA with square taper (Rebour in Le Cycle and Le Cycliste)

I know there are other Stronglights as well, which came out before 1960. What about other makers? Is it really true that there were so few aluminum cranks until 1960?
