Subject: [CR]Strange mopments of This Cirque

Last year was my first Cirque. Being a very shy type, it was mostly about the bikes. This year the bikes were great, as one might expect, but I think the people stole the show this year. Karen Rawls taking me under her wing and introducing me to the temptations of North Carolina Bar-B-Que. Once when I mentioned Pizza she gently chided me "You can get pizza at home, Tom". Talk about the wisdom of the ages! Taking some parts for Lou up to Jonathon Greene's room early one morning and there was the New Richard Sachs track bike only assembled the night before. "You're only the third person to see it completed", he said. Wow! I'm afraid he had to wipe my drool off it before taking it down stairs. Coming back from the Lewis Recreation Center in a pouring rain and looking over to my left and seeing the entire Philadelphia outlaw biking delegation soaking wet...all dressed in Black...Must have been making 30 MPH! Not a helmet in sight! These guys are really, really naughty. What a great bunch they turned out to be, though. Wish I had a disc of The Ride of the Valkyries playing in the car when I saw them! Bob Hovey's joy at being there and Nick Zatezalo's genteel Southern Gentleman's sophistication. Dale and his Wife's great cordiality and hospitality. John's endless enthusiasm at the auction and Mike Kone's classy way of ending the Cinelli sale. These folks and many others make it a hell of a lot more than a bike show. Thanks, all. Oh Yeah, there was this '48 Masi track bike, too...
