still win with a 1952 bicycle you say ?

as long as everybody had at least APPROXIMATELY the same gearing choices , I'd completely agree !

o.k. , here's what we need to do .

right now .

1.) Get like at least 50 million dollars . o.k. , get more .

2.) Form a serious pro-cycling team .

3.) Sign some huge-big-talent-names . Lance Armstrong would be nice . But he'd cost like about a quarter of our money , to sign him to our new team . And besides , he's just about one deep breath away from retirement . Tyler Hamilton , and his "won't quit" attitude , would be a MUST ! But , let's not be nationalistic . Let's not be jingo-istic about the origins of names . Why not sign at least one name from each of the countries where cycling is a major sport ?

4.) Have a fleet of serious racing bicycle frame-sets built , with steel lugs , and steel tubing .

5.) Outfit some of them with Campagnolo Nuovo Record groups , from 1968 - 1977 . Outfit some of them with Campagnolo Super Record groups , from 1973 - 1977 . Outfit some of them with all-French groups , Simplex Super LJ , Stronglight 105 , Lyotard , etc . Make sure the wheels can be swapped around , without problems .

6.) Then win , and / or come very close to winning , some MAJOR races .

7.) Gain PUBLIC acknowledgement of the fact that a 21 pound bicycle , using a new steel frame-set , and component parts from around 1968 - 1977 . . . CAN be very competitive against an entirely made-in-2004 19-pound bicycle .

there , that's just my modest proposal .
