I recall that somebody here was waxing erotic about their kickstand-bridged Schwinn the other day. I have joined the club!

Found in an LBS's trash yesterday: one fillet-brazed Chicago Schwinn "Sport-Tourer", chromoly sticker, rust patina everywhere that isn't brass, my size perfect to be my college bike for the next two years, in other words, plus...that kickstand!

The really good part is the still-ggod-enough Brooks B15 and T/A Cyclotouriste double! The headset bearings were perfectly protected by lotsa grease. Haven't been into the BB yet, but the caps came right off, to my amazement.

++++++++++++ Jeff, to me this was one of the "sleepers" of the era. It seemed to be a bit heavier that the true DB bikes from across the pond, but quite good fun, anyhow -- wish I had found it. Another sleeper for hot-rodding was the next model down, the Super Sport. Also 4130 frame, but with Ashtabula BB. With a bit of cunning, one of the BMX Ashtabula-to-3 piece cotterless adapters could be fitted, giving the luxury of the huge Ashtabula bearing set and a wide range of crank/chainring choices.

Prices: SuperSport, 1971, $138.95; not available in my '74 list. 75 list has the Sport Tourer, but no price.
