I have probably enjoyed this string more than most. Lots of activity, opinions, facts and controversy. Still, I like most linger in the past and wish things were simpler. No way you could really convince me that the older stuff was better for its intended purpose. I am a realist and as such put things under a microscope to view them. To exaggerate my point, look at Indy race cars or any car for that matter. No way you would compete today with a model from the 20s or 30s. Small improvements are made all the time, the good ones survive and the bad ones fall from favor or become collectible. I cherish my old bikes for many reasons, I really do like older mechanical things that I can understand and tinker with. I have a better chance of fixing my old downtube lever shifters if something broke than fixing the modern brake lever shifters. That is just the way it is. I could tear down an old slant 6 engine and put it back together with the best of them. Cannot say the same for today's modern, computer controlled 4 cylinder jobs. Nostalgia, history and reliving the past is fun and educational but time and progress moves on. Thanks for a lot of fun reading this string but I still say I am right ;)
