Giuseppe Olmo founded the company with his brothers. Giuseppe was the star 'name' behind the company and their initial success. Olmo was indeed Olympic champion in 1932 as pointed out by Richard (in a team event), but this was only one of many victories. He was also world hour record holder in 1935, Italian national champion in 1931 (as amateur), 1936 (road) and 1940 (track). He also won 19 stages of the Giro (compare this to 22 won by Coppi), the Milan-San Remo plus a whole lot more. He raced for Bianchi and Umberto dei.
