I believe that more than a few of you folks have a fondness for these, and some other people were wondering what they look like. Here is a unused pair that just came up for auction in Japan. Can someone please explain why the keyhole spoke slots on just the one side?

The keyholes are only needed on the freewheel side to enable spoke replacement without removing the freewheel. Broken spokes on the other side can be easily passed over the opposing flange by the usual method without the need for the keyholes. Ideal for touring, and much loved by serious touriste types over here.
