Even with the threat of rain and various mechanicals, we had a lovely 45+ miler down and back on the Silver Comet Trail.

If you are riding a fixed or lessor range and speed bike, the Silver Comet - a rails to trails conversion - is for you. According to my Official Path Foundation trail map, there is only about 300 feet of elevation variation along it's total length, about 38 miles.

Anyway no cars, no bugs, no dangerous wildlife, no smog or any other scary hazards. Lots of interesting plants, cool train tunnels, a couple of lakes, birds and little lizards dashing across the trail.

Nick Z was our host and organizer, joined by Richard Griff, Roman Stankus, Taz Taylor and his S.O. Stacy and Buck Peacock. Roman brought his lovely freshly restored Mclean, Richard rode an original Chesini with much pantographed bits, Nick rode a very metallic yellow Nagasawa, Buck had a salmon Paramount, Stacy rode her Bontrager and Taz rode his Davidson. I brought my Montelatici in it's non show outfit.

I think we had the prettiest crew of bikes out on the trail that day.

A pleasant time in lovely late Spring weather was had by all. We had Mexican food after. How can you beat such a nice Sunday with friends and vintage bikes?
