Sorry for all the emails I have created over the conversation with Titch Morris and the shaping machine. I am sure this is what he said. But this conversation was way back in the 80's when he still had his shop in Walthamstow . Me and a mate road down from Stevenage to see him about a tricycle modification that we wanted him to do. I didn't really know him that well back then but he was kind enough to offer us both tea and show us his bikes and workshop. Which was very welcome because we had ridden a hard 45 miles to his shop in the pissing rain with a strong headwind. This is when I saw his most beautiful Morris with a wonderful extension (stem). He told me that he had worked in the car & commercial vehicle industry and I am sure he said that he made this extension in his lunch time on a shaping machine. Now we all no the memory plays funny tricks especially when you are of my age, and at the time I was thinking more about the food on offer (typical cyclists). Some fourteen years later I moved very close to where Titch now lives and I occasionally have tea with him in fact I have to pick up a trike from him in the near future for a mutual friend. Now I will definitely ask about the production method he used on this stem. I would hate to misquote him as he has got terribly annoyed about some of the inaccuracies written by others about him.

Best wishes and be lucky. Michael Butler Huntingdon UK.
