Hey cool cats,

No such thing as 27" tubulars ????

With all due respect to our Listmeister's recent request ........ I proclaim .... bullocks !!!!!!! (in the way e-RichieĀ® meant but misspelt ..... or ........ maybe it wasn't a faux-pas by e-RichieĀ® as ONLY he could be so cool that the joke is on us interlopers who hail from outside the US of A)

My old standard of Conti Sprinter's used to and STILL come in 27" (700c) and 26" (650c) ..... ya see, it's the old imperial vs. metric vs. tire vs. tyre vs. misnomer vs. differing standards vs. deja-vu all over again about measuring stuff - ad nauseum - ad-infinitum - add your own $0.02c.

I heard it once mentioned by a chap, with a not inconsiderable amount of knowledge about & of these things, that the outside diameter of a tubular tire is very close to 27" which may just be why, in some parts of this world, they are called just so. Perhaps correctly when you think of all that 700c meaning 622mm bunkum - whassupwiddatt ????? Me? I dunno for sure but i'm not into measuring rubber ..... maybe 'coz i'm circumcised.

.... look under conti sprinter's on their own website

http://www.conti-tyres.co.uk/conticycle/road_tyres/road_default.htm

Funny huh? >>>>> Then it gets daft; where the Conti site lists that it's "ETRTO" width as 22mm it also states that the Imperial measurement is 27 x 1 - the 1 I assume meaning 1 inch, which to me means 25.4mm !!!!!!!! So, I put it to you Mr. Conti Ty/ire Man where did the extra 3.4mm go ????? Perhaps they are to blame for all this confusion.

Anyway, it's all the same, wether it's called a 700c tubular or a 27" tubular: it works and there is nothing to be afraid of, suspicious about or correcting for. Rubber down - Ass up .... is all that matters.

Speaking of which; fanny & fanny ......... hmmmmm ....... very different things depending on where or who you say it to. I like 'em both but only from the sex that can pertain to have both ;-)
