Here's one for the builders ;
Having seen a Holdsworth Cyclone Super de Luxe dating from 1948 in the flesh (stripped of paint) I noticed that the spearpoint extensions appeared to have been brazed using a predominatly copper filler material rather than bronze. Was this common practice on those extensions added to lugs that were still to be brazed into a frame. Clearly in order that brazing the lugs up at a marginally lower temperature with bronze would not disturb the previously fitted extensions .
This of course ties in (but in reverse of course) with Micks description of brazing on the bilaminate extensions using a silver filler at a lower temperature to prevent re-heating of the already brazed frame.
Any thoughts ?
