Subject: [CR]In praise of Mick Butler

I hope everyone appreciates the tremendous contribution Mick makes to this list. I've been reading some of the recent posts made by people with very little historical perspective. That's not their fault but my advice would be to shut up and learn instead of opening your mouth and letting your belly rumble. There may well be others on the list who have as much to impart as Mick but with him there's no quid pro quo. He might flog the odd frame or bike as we all do but he is happy to pass on his knowledge to the list without feeling the need to use it as a marketing tool or to "out" his latest Ebay offerings.

My interest is in old British bikes mainly and in my opinion no one posts as many informative messages on this subject as Mick. He has a lot more to give, I'll guess, but I noticed he was getting increasingly ticked off by the latest round of posts. Given that he has already left the list once before, I wouldn't like to see him disappear again. I've never met Mick and he may well be a cantankerous old bugger for all I know but that doesn't stop him being very relevant to our interest. So a bit of respect, please.

Hope this hasn't embarrassed you too much, Mick.
