The seller applecart2 is Sterling Peters, CR list member and present on the most recent San Diego vintage bicycle ride, and a friend of mine. He's an honest guy. He goes to bike auctions, buys the bikes, parts them out, and then moves the frames as fixed-gear bikes assembled with some low-cost components - perhaps there is a better market for fixed gear bikes than for 10-speeds.

I'm responding because he doesn't read the CR mailing list too often. Anyway, i would say that if the auction listing has an error, it was an honest mistake. He says right in the auction title the bike is a Bianchi Fixed Gear Bike - Track. I do not see what is wrong with that description.

Sterling's newest bike is a beautiful mercian path racer, purple, in November of 2003, which he rode in san diego 2 weekends ago.
