From time-to-time, after remarking on my bottom-feeding habits, "friends" have been known to ask where I really get the bikes I find. This past weekend, Beloved Spouse and I went to the Baltimore Bicycle Club's annual Kent County Spring Fling, which is great fun always. The crowd was pretty grey, attracted by flat terrain and memories of friends from years past. We brought the tandem and rode it. And 3 vintage bikes. And there are conversations and even a bit of show-and-tell occasionally, and folks remember and tell friends. At a picnic, two different folks offered two different vintage bikes to me. Now, I don't know if either will come through, or be something I want, but if they do send me pix, these two bikes, if worth anything, are likely to be recycled into the community. Three wonderful bikes, at least, have come from local swap meets. All things from just doing what I like doing anyhow -- and being fortunate enough to be in an area were there were good bikes back then (and where some folks are starting to think about emptying the garage and moving to a condo...
