When I was a very lowly track rider in our evening track leagues in the swinging sixties, our cycling publications occasionally published a list of all time great Six-Day riders. Torchy Peden a Canadian figured highly along with your Cecil Yates, Jim Walthour and Alf Crossley. The old timers regaled tales to us youngsters of these legendary stars. These have been since eclipsed by a Brit and a few Aussies and Belgium's but still a wonderful racing heritage to be proud off. The fields back in those halcyon days of American track racing were probably a lot more evenly matched and competitive.
