mark Stevens asked for information regarding a Harrison track bike owned by an acquaintance, the frame apparently having ben made some years ago in Manchester. Clearly the Harrison that immediately springs to mind is RO Harrison. He built a lot of track bikes but he was of course London-based, I seem to recall, but without any real clarity or detail a Jim harrison who worked from Manchester and who was building in the heyday of local sprinters such as Cyril Cartwright. The third harrison, another "Jim" was based in Penrith in the 80s but he seemed to concentrate on touring frames.

The chap who should be able to give you chapter and verse on this matter and about anything to do with Manchester frame builders, and there were dozens of them , is Gordon Blaikie, of the VCC, or his mate Ron Sant who are collaborating to publish a book about Cycle manufacturers in the Manhester area. They don't appear to have email addresses, but btheir phone nos. are given in the VCC handbook.

Turning from Harrison frames... did you ever pick up that Innanzo Tutto? If so was it as attractice as I recalled all those 50 years ago?

Norris Lockley... a touch of the Altzheimers today I think.. Settle UK
