Jerry,

Actually, "Cymru" is Wales in Welsh. Dyfed derives from the former Irish Kingdom of the Demetiae who occupied parts of West Wales in the 5th and 6th centuries!

The old counties which now make up Dyfed were Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Cardiganshire. We used to spend summer holidays in Pembrokeshire when I was a kid - a beautiful part of the world and great place to cycle.

Lest I be censured by Dale for no bike content - I spent many a day riding my 81 custom-built Raleigh in the Prescelli hills of Dyfed - during field-work for my graduate work in Cardiff in the 1980s. Put a rack on the bike - I know I wouldn't dream of it it now - tethering such a thoroughbred to panniers - sacrilege (mind you the bike performed admirably and climbed beautifully - even loaded).

On another note - I know I asked this in the past, but thought Norris might know - who else used to build in Wales?
