I'm about to go to my credit-card company to attempt to get my money back after an ebay deal gone bad.
This is the first time this has happened to me, so any advice would be helpful.
I won an auction for a Colnago Super with 50th anniversary parts from *jayway15* (who has since been de-listed from ebay).
Jayway15 is one Marc-Paul van Asseldonk, in Den Bosch, Netherlands. He had mostly positive feedback, a few complaints about slow service, not much more.
I actually e-mailed him before the auction ended to try to get a sense of whether he was legit or not, and he seemed ok (first mistake).
I won the bike, he send a street address (which I will pursue), but I paid him with Paypal using a credit card.
And I haven't heard from him since. No bike has shown up.
It's been about 45 days, beyond paypal's limits (30 days is stupid, when you consider how long it takes for something to ship from Europe, sometimes...but PayPal is refusing to do anything to help with this)... so I will be working with my credit card issuer to try to get my money back.
My second mistake was waiting so long to follow up. I guess I believed he was legit, and he just couldn't get hold of me.
Which was stupid, and I won't make that mistake again.
This post is a simple warning to avoid this guy like the plague.
Also, if any of you know him, of him, or how to get in contact with him, I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me what you know.
I am, naturally, quite angry about this, and I'm going to pursue him in whatever way seems reasonable.
