Subject: [CR]Rear Spread... both kinds!

> I do have a concern about the stress I'm putting on the 126 rear triangles by running 130 rear hubs without permanently spreading the dropouts.  I'm still pondering that one, but this latest discussion has pretty much convinced me not to permanently reset the spacing.  I know I'm stressing out my frame, but tough, if my frame wants me to ride it, it's just going to have to suffer.

I'm sure an engineer/stress analyst would be more qualified to answer your concerns, but my gut feeling is this:

The small amount of added stress on a frame resulting from spreading its rear

from 126mm to 130mm pales in comparison to the amount of stress added over the years by my own "spreading rear".

I am of course, just speaking for myself here...
