Am I missing something? These aren't even the same bike, nor close to it.
Apples and oranges. Seems to me the low-bid GC should be compared to other GCs in
terms of price, not to a late-60s Italy-made bike that Masi may have had his
own mitts on (?). I was watching that Gran Criterium closely myself but
passed, so I can at least give my reasons for not bidding: 1. Time period of bike.
2. Frame needed repaint (at the very least). 3. No interest in the components.
4. Not a prime size, and certainly on the big side for me. 5. The Della Santa
frame put up by list member Greg Yares, which I decided I would rather have
and which didn't attract any other bids.
NB: If Ray's posting comparing the Special and the GC are tongue in cheek,
mea culpa.
