Hello Duane,

I had one, it was from the mid seventies, I think Velo Sport in Berkeley brought some in. Mine was painted navy blue with white decals, the worksmanship was very good. It had a simple unpretentious beauty to it. I think George Mount rode an Argos in the Milk Race or was it the Tour de Avenir? I hated it because I never could find a comfortable position on the thing-- the bike had a very short toptube and I just could'nt move the saddle far enough back. I kept the wondeful NR groupo and sold the frame for $90.00!!

Hi boys & girls,

Does anyone out there know about '70s ARGOS frames? What I'm wondering, is if they were all customs, or if they built production frames as well. I recently snagged an ARGOS from mid-late '70s, and I'm wondering 'cause it's got what seems an uncommonly short top tube (51ctc, w/53ctc seat) for the mid '70s period... I'm thinking maybe it was a custom, and ordered that way.... Perfect for me, as I like a short top tube. Anyone on the CR list have an ARGOS that they like or dislike? Thanks as always,
