Hi Kurt, I'm a Torpado nut, but I almost passed over your post, as it did not have the word "Torpado" in the subject line. Thank Matteo in Italy for pointing it out to me! The serial number of your Torpado shows it to be from 1984, not surprisingly. There were two models that I am aware of that had hearts in the lugs. First was the NUOVO SPRINT, which was equipped with a mix of components and Campy Nuovo Gran Sport gears. This bike came in a pearl yellow finish. The other model with hearts in the lugs is the more common SUPER STRADA, which came in pearl beige (or pearl white, depending upon the year, but they were very similar colors). The Super Strada was their pantographed model, including "TORPADO" TTT stem, "T"s in the Ofmega crank rings, and "T" on the front of the Campy two bolt seatpost.

Mark Schechterman's fine looking yellow Nuovo Sprint can be viewed under Torpado at Dale's CR (Italian Main) pages, at: http://www.classicrendezvous.com/Italy/Torpado/torpado_main.htm In addition, you can also view both model photos and spec. sheet from a Torpado brochure, that I believe to be from about 1983. The spec. sheet shows OEM components for both bikes mentioned above, just click on it to expand. In my collection, I happen to have both models dated 1984. They appear to have the exact same features on both framesets: All tubes Columbus Aelle, Campy dropouts, semi-sloping crown on fully chromed fork, Gipiemme rear brake bridge. The difference between bikes then was in the finish, and the equipment selection. Feel free to email me for any other specifics that I might be able to supply, or additional photos of either model.
