This sort of thing wasn't limited to the Bike Boom. I recall some Cilos, I believe the model year was 1989, where they made a running change in the middle of the season...part of the year the bikes were sized center-to-top, the other part of the year they were sized center-to-center. You couldn't tell what size the actual bike was until you opened the box and measured it!
