Dear Greg and Brian,

Dale Saso still is an active framebuilder. He builds classic steel frames by brass or silver brazing -- not fancy, but very nice and extremely well made. In fact, he just built a beautiful 'vintage' frame for me a few months ago -- Reynolds 531 tubing, Prugnat lugs, Campagnolo 1010 dropouts and fork ends (which I supplied) along with a Fischer bottom bracket (unfortunately, his last one) and an unknown but very nice vintage fork crown. I built up the bike with early 1970s components, and it rides great! Dale is as good as it gets when it comes to framebuilding. Moreover, he has over 30 years experience in the business (I know, because I've known him for 30 years). He is a super nice guy and a pleasure with whom to work. He can be reached at 408-926-0183 or dsaso@aol.com. If anyone is interested in a custom steel frame for an excellent price, I strongly recommend that you contact Dale. He is extremely flexible, and will build the frame to your specifications (though he will provide advice if you request something that may not be in your best interest). [In fact, I'm planning to order another (modern steel) frame from Dale.]

Best wishes,

Jim Kadonaga Del Mar, CA

I recently acquired an early '80s (I think - 123 mm rear spacing??) Dale Saso 531 frameset. See a few pics here: http://ebay.com/<blah> Can anyone tell me anything about Dale and /or his frames? The lugs look like pressed-steel, BB and fork crown are Cinelli IC, Suntour rear vertical dropouts, very short chainstays. (A 21 mm. tubie almost has to be deflated to fit the rear wheel onto the frame). Thanks, Greg Parker Ann Arbor, Michigan (regime-change headquarters)
