If you look closely, you will see that that these are not the pedestrian version. Rather, they are a Camp-copy, and quite well executed. They appear to be an evolution of the Atom 700 series, with chromed spindles and a Campyesque dustcap (knurls instead of flats). No telling from a photo if the bearing surfaces are polished like a Campy, but these a probably a bit on the rare side and, if you wanted a nice set of European pedals that were not Campy, might be worth such a premium to you.

When it comes down to it, we often roll our eyes at the "high" prices some of these items fetch. That's probably because we know that you can pick up a nice, serviceable set of Campy pedals for less than $35, if you are patient. But you know, it's not worth my time to list, pack, sell and pay the fees to get rid of a set of pedals for $35. I've seen people drop $150 on a set of new pedals at a bike shop without batting an eye. Probably happens somewhere in the world every day. Heck, It costs me over $150 for the parts to replace an exaust system, and that has to be done every 3 years up here in Vermont. I'd get a heck of a lot more enjoyment out of those pedals than I do from a new tailpipe. Less rust in the eye, as well! The person who decides to plunk their cash down on a classic item, rather than a trendy new one, should be supported in their decision, even if they pay more than we would.

Let's face it, many of us are just a bunch of cheapskates who expect to find an unending supply of high-quality, rare parts at giveaway prices.
