Subject: [CR]Re: Photo Hosting / Paramount

Bob, you spurred me to look into what my ISP provides. I have SBC/Yahoo DSL. They allow me to create an album, drag pohots into it, then email "invitations" to view my album. The email displays a small thumbnail of the first page of the album. You click on a button to view the album. Doing this for the first time did require downloading some software, but that was fairly painless.

If no one objects, I would like to put this to the test. I recently paid slightly more than $1,000 on eBay for an original all chrome 1973 Schwinn Paramount. (Turns out it isn't quite entirely original, but that's another story.) After the auction ended, an eBay member emailed me asking why the bike was so expensive. I gave him my opinion of Paramounts and what I think the "going prices" are. He then said he had a collection of Paramounts, and might be interested in selling them, and offered to sent photos. I siad I would like to see the photos and I thought our list would like to see them as well. He has sent me photos of what appear to be 5 nearly mint Paramounts, 3 from the 70's, two from the early/mid 80's. He asked me to share these with the list. I told him if he wants to offer them for sale, the asking price price must be stated. He has done so.

Anyone object to my sending the list an invitation to view this album? I presume this is within the rules as a few weeks ago someone posted a link to a listing of another Paramount/Superior collection, the main difference being that one didn't have any photos. Actually, I did have an issue with that posting, namely that other CR members snapped up the Paramounts before I responded :-)

All you have to do is download a freeware program that enables you to upload pictures and web pages to their storage area. Some consider it a bit more difficult than just uploading to a photo-hosting site, but in exchange it gives you much more freedom over page design and adding detailed captions and so forth.

For any listmembers who wish to post images online for free and without registration, may I suggest you visit this site:

They will store images up to 800K for up to a year from the last download. Just upload the photos and post the URL in a mail to the list.

Much easier than e-mailing photos out to people individually for both parties involved, and a much, much better service than Yahoo Photos or the like who severely restrict the image size and force the viewer to download the whole page with ads etc. rather than just the image itself.
