Subject: [CR]Columus SP & SLX question and Campy question

Looking at SP tubing in the Ceeway catalog:

1) The butting profile looks stepped, not tapered. Is this right? Seems crazy. 2) The DT is listed as 635mm long. That seems short particularly for a tube set that is intended for larger frames. Anyone know if that is accurate?

I've forwarded the questions to Ceeway but thought I'd check here too.

For a 170# recreational rider who wants a very durable, very long lasting frameset that may see the occasional rough/gravel road but who doesn't want truly unnecessary weight: Would those of you with direct experience suggest SP or SLX (no other tubes/diameters are being considered). I need to build a frame based on conventional 1 and 1.125" tubes for an old Super Record groupset unless:

Campy: Did they make a super record ft der in the early 80s that was not a clamp on but which attached to a braze on tab instead, and could then be used on a 1.25" ST?

Molto interested in the answers.
