Cooper is my omission for no good reason, the first of his frames to make it to this country had the semi-fastback stays that you describe, as well as bigger squarer block letters than the other brands. Coopers were also some of the cleanest-looking UK frames of the time. The first bike store I worked at sold them and they rode straight and had no parts installation problems as compared to some other brands sold in the same area at the time.
