Hi gang, Today was a good day. Rode across the Illinois River to join some buddies for a Saturday morning ride. Underneath me was my '82 T.I. Raleigh Team bike, with its timeless red/yellow/black paint scheme and the standard Campy NR & SR bits. I do my best to match the bike by wearing some polished black Duegis and a Raleigh jersey (in matching colors, but recent vintage). As usual, it's a great chance to talk with friends, see who's planning on doing what ride, etc. Throw in a stop for breakfast at a local greasy spoon, and it might just be a perfect day. Well, that's what I thought. But on the ride home, stopped at a light, a elder fellow in a pick-up commented "hey, that's a great looking bike!". All I could do was wave and say thanks, and the light changed and we were on our separate ways. Jeez, I was pretty much stunned that the average Joe would even look at a bike, much less share my appreciation for the bike's aesthetics, and take the time to say so. Man, what a great world!!
