I remember Jack Moran (quite a character) at City Cycle in Little Rock, AR building me up an ALAN Super Record in 1981 with all Zeus 2000 (I still have it). He said he hoped I wouldn't race it. He said if I wanted to race, I should buy "this crap" waving his hand at half a dozen Colnago Supers hanging on the wall. I don't think he was universally negative on Colnago, as he had a gold plated one he proudly displayed. He just considered the subctractor-built boom year (although 1981 was really post-boom) Colnago Supers as expendible tools to be crashed in tight course criteriums, while you saved your nicer bikes for touring/training/display.

Did anyone ever see a Colnago with English threading? I had one. I suspect it was outsourced from Taiwan. Not that it was a bad bike, just not the "real" thing. Lou Deeter, Orlando FL
