I recall some discussion a while back that Carsten had had some personal problems, like maybe a severe or fatal illness to a close family member or something, although I don't think the detail were posted, as that was probably not appropriate. At the time, there was a younger man working with him who was going to clean up the mess and make good on all the undelivered purchases. I think he actually did so in some cases, but judging from the recent feedback, the situation seems to have gone to hell once again. The Carsten debacle plus the long delays and high shipping costs of buying anything from Germany have made me resolve to purchase stuff from Germany only from CR list members. In that case there may still be delays and expense, but I have complete confidence in CR members to deliver the goods as described.

This strikes me as a sad story. Unless I am confusing people, that was/is Carsten Rehbein, no? He made that really nice web site, had very good reputation and then it all went down the drain. What could have happened? There must be some story here we are not privy to.
