Mafac did make a full hood for the Racer. It looks like the 2000 full hood, but the cable adjuster is different. The hood has a shiny metal adjuster with a rubber o-ring. The 2000 adjuster is encased in a tan rubber blob. The adjusters are different diameters too, and one of the kinds of the lever bodies would have to be drilled out to fit the other adjuster. I don't remember which brake used the fatter adjuster, and all my brake parts are still boxed up from moving.

Was there a full hood for the levers that come with a set of Mafac Racer = calipers? Is there some generic that comes close to fitting? The half hoods don't really impress me. Do you have to have those hoods to use the adjusters? (should have asked = before I bought the adjusters!)

In lieu of hoods I may go with several wraps of bar tape. =20 Thanks.
