A friend in Westchester County has a Raleigh Super Course MK II, with a Reynolds 531 frame. The seat tube now has a small crack/ split adjacent to the flanges that hold the tightening bolt. This is presumably from over-tightening. Now the seat post can not tightened, and the seat hight can not be regulated -- it can only be in the lowest position. He would like to repair the Raleigh for around town use, rather than a total restoration. Is there a reasonable "quick fix" or is it time to see a frame builder? Anyone know of a nearby frame builder he might take it to?
Thanks,
