I think it is a right (rear) shifter. The trick is that we're looking at the bottom of the unit, and the shift lever is rotated all the way around, pointing at the BB. I deduce this because there looks to be a cable housing stop under the lever in the foreground, indicating that "this side" points to the BB. But why you would take a pic from the bottom is beyond me, unless seller doesn't realize the lever is in the full pull position. Hope it's not frozen there---
