My response: According to my Shimano catalog (as large as the Cleveland phone directory, I wonder why?) there were four freewheel removing tools as well as a vast assortment of freehub and BMX removers referenced. Of the ones that we are concerned about, only one appears to be a prong type. The Shimano part number is 120 0904 Model # TL-FW 40. It is described as a single Freewheel Removing Tool and it has prongs. Two of the other tools are splined (one Regina style and the other a small diameter spline). The last one is multiple freewheel tool for the following freewheels MF-7160/MF-6207/MF-6160. I believe these fore mentioned freewheels all are splined, no prongs. I'm not sure if any of this stuff is available from Shimano anymore.
