Only stem I ever broke while riding was a Pivo. It was also my first alloy stem. Luckily, it broke where it entered the steerer and the expander bolt held everything together so was able to make the last couple of miles home. What a weird feeling having the handlebars wobbling around and not being able to put any weight on them. I still remember it over 30 years later.
