Harvey: My friend Keith Helon just purchased a 60s Hetchin's Magnum Bonum from David Miller and the rear brake picot hole is off center to the left by about 1/4". Sounds like somebody at Hetchins must have had vsion problems. Peter Naiman Shorewood, WI

Imagine... it's 1969. You've just ordered a gorgeous Hetchins Vade Mecum Mk II frame (see . You decided to use center pull brakes and specified that cable stops suitable for mounting center-pulls be brazed on. It's too late to change your mind and go for side pulls. The rest of the equipment will be Campy Record/Nuovo record. Now the question is which brand and model center pull brake to use when you build up your dream bike after it arrives in a few weeks... ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Couple of months ago I remarked to the list that my '73 (+/-) Hetchins Spyder came with Universal 61s. With Universal pads (and the obligatory rotted hoods). It is by far my favorite centerpull, modulating very, very, well.

BTW, on mine the cable stop on the bridge between the seat stays is offset to the right.
