Tom and the CR List, I was the second highest bidder for the Masi Special last week and just got an email from the seller who reports that the winning bidder is no longer a registered with ebay. He is offering a 2nd chance to purchase the bike. I was outbid by $45.10. Here's the content of the letter:

Hi, last week you were the 2nd highest bidder on a Masi Special bike we had for sale. it now appears that the high bidder is no longer registered with eBay. Are you still interested in the bike ? if yes, we will send you a 2nd

chance offer. Thanks for the earlier interest. Barry... Thank you, we$ellit

Does this sound legitimate to you? The return address is that used for the original auction.

Curious in San Francisco,

Hi Wilson,

That email looks legitimate. Tell Barry to send you a second chance offer. When you receive it, it will have a new item number. Copy and paste that item number into an eBay search. It should come up with an active "buy it now" listing that only you and the seller can see. That is how you will know it is a legitimate "second chance" offer.

Hope this helps,
