and that's why everyone once did it with lugs too. during the list timeline, lugs were not the best way, they were (in essence) the only way. are we celebrating excellence or nostalgia? e-RICHIE chester, ct

Both! They can coexist quite nicely. "We" make the call....

But I disagree a bit too - lugs were (in essence) the best way back then, given the metallurgy and manufacturing methods / equipment of the time. You could fillet-braze a frame quicker and more inexpensively, though - Tom Ritchey comes to mind (and his stuff is way cool, even...). Remember, you don't sell the steak, you sell the sizzle.

This list isn't a "bike democracy" - Dale can make any rules / guidelines he darn well chooses! Lugs = yes, TIG = no*
