Subject: [CR]Measuring Ugly

Well, I had been waiting for Bob Hovey to weigh in on it. He has about the best eye of any close friend I have. Guess it's my turn. I can't define it. I can't define beauty, either. Oh sure, we can talk about poorly done or disproportional, or clashing color, but it really is a matter of taste. I go at it this way. Seldom will anyone be hurt when you proclaim something beautiful. Not so with ugly. Basically I try not to say too much if I don't have something nice to say. I have occasionally made the comment to someone that the bike in question would have no reflection in a mirror. Even this feeble amount of humor helps ease the situation some. Those who know me know that on most things I am quite (overly?) outspoken, but I sure as heck would never call anyone's bike or one's spouse ugly...them's
fightin' words!
