When Campy was offering the Nuovo Record pista headset, did the parts also include a spacer that could be fit between the upper threaded race and lockring? Was this a standard included part? I can't think of why such a part would be added unless one would sometimes want to attach a road fork for the brake?

Yes - all headsets included a spacer. In this case it was the same #682 washer that was used for Record Strada, Record Pista, and Sport / GS headsets. Greg "spaced" Parker Dexter, Michigan
