.............Mick Butler mentioned briefly in a recent post of Excel Cycles (Colliers Wood-SW London) with their excellent frames being built by the owner Dan Genner..........it's good to see Excel Cycles finally getting a mention on the CR list as Dan's frames and his equally successful brother Fred Genner of Excel Cycles (Woolwich-SE London) were highly respected and sought after lightweight framebuilders and cycle suppliers from the 30's until the 50's, Fred employed Harry Perry as his chief framebuilder and Harry acquired the Woolwich end of the business after Fred's death. The shop now called Perry's is still trading in lightweight frames and accessories........can anyone shed more light on the two Genner brothers? on another note I have some items for sale: an attractive pair of FB large flange hubs from the 50's, the exact same pattern as Campagnolo Gran Sport......but rarer! rechromed barrels & polished flanges, gear/fixed rear, solid spindles only £50.00 plus post, will look terrific when built up! Large Flange Airlite track rear hub only (in excellent condition) 40 hole £25.00, Lots of 1970's and 1980's Reynolds seat tube transfers including a few sets of 501/531 forks (originals not repro.) practically covering about every tube set available from the period prices mostly let me know your wants and I'll e-mail photos, from £3.00 per decal, Hetchins metal headbadge in good original condition £20.00 and finally a Freddie Grubb metal headbadge from the 70's (Italian flag) in as new condition never mounted and only £10.00, please contact me off list with any questions, regards Griff King-Spooner (London UK)
