Well do you know what that means to The Omnipotent Despot? We'll Let me tell ya what it means: It means its time.......
ATTENTION ALL LIST MEMBERS!!!!!!!!:
With it's seemingly never ending urgency, time has once again rolled around for the next monthly meeting of the Brooklyn Velodrome Vintage Wheelmen. The BVVW is a tangent of Gruppo Sportivo Pergolizzi. This will be an informal gathering of all N.Y. metro area cyclists who share an interest in vintage bicycles and cycling history. The meeting will take place on Saturday, November 20th, 2004. Meet at the home of member Michael Allison, 1073-1st Ave., apt. 42 on the downstairs buzzer (that's between 59th and 60th streets; west side of the Avenue. That's the left as your going uptown, ugghhhh....the street numbers are getting higher, for those who are compass challenged). For those really out of shape, be WARNED; you must walk up four flights). We will talk the old talk (1930 to 1980) of cycling, our heroes, and their bicycles. The BVVW group comprised of about 15 hardcore certified freaks, will hang and talk bikes for about 2 hours. Subject for the evenings discussion will be "The King"! No not THAT King , the other one, Eddy Merckx. Charter member Josh "Cinelli" Burger will be giving a very informative dissertation on King Eddy's life and times. Bring whatever "Eddy" swag you've got for show and tell. A portion of the film "La Course en Tete" will be shown to help indoctrinate the misinformed of "modern" cycling. Bring your own popcorn. Meet at 5:30 p.m. for a 6:00 o'clock start. At around 8:00p.m. we will go for eats. Tentatively, the restaurant will be "Ultimate" on the northeast corner of 1st Ave. and 57th, upstairs above the pizzeria. And it's BYOB and WINE (Go see "Ronnie" on 1st Ave just down town from Mikie's place for a good deal on vino. And he's a nice guy! ). If it's only Nino, Bill, Mike, and me, we'll still be there and fully sloshed. Please make every effort to come, as we will have more FUN then we pay for. Expect to get home eventually. Bosco Gong, Joel Dressner, , C.J. Scheiner, Greg Goode, Leland Vall, Roy H. Drinkwater, Jeremy Lieberman, Mike Schmidt, Anthony Mezzatesta, and any other yet unattended CR members from the vicinity, we'll be waiting.
