I pleaded with my wife to buy me that Masi for Christmas - I've always wanted a 50th anniversary Campy gruppo, and having it on a beautiful Masi (in my size!) made it so much more desirable. She asked me a very good question as she gave me her very emphatic "NO"..."what makes that Masi better than your Eddy Merckx bikes that cost about half that?"
Since she knows I don't hang bikes on the wall to look at (except for a too-whippy Colnago), and would ride anything I bought, I had to consider her question. Would that Masi be that much a better ride than say, an early-90's SLX Merckx? (Sorry Dale for the early-90's comparison - but I hope it's at least in the KOF category).

snip: Now for something closer to on-topic... does anyone have any comments about the $4,000+ price paid for a San Marcos Masi GC this weekend? Any idea who built it, I'm thinking David Moulton had left by this time... Joe Starck maybe?
