Angel,
Don't the cranks made after 1977 require a BB spindle that is
2 or 3 millimeters longer - i.e. something like 115mm, as
opposed to 113?
Anyway, that's been my experience, since the drive side arms
of the later cranksets are a bit wider to accomodate the front
derailleur with the "lip". I believe Bicycle Classics has a
chart on their Web site explaining all this but I can't get to
it at the moment.
