I agree with you to a large extent -- I don't restore bikes; I ride them, and I just happen to really like how my bikes ride, so I haven't replaced them. Over the years they have edged into the "vintage" category, but I still ride them.

That said, I think that there is a place for the loving restoration many of the people on this forum enjoy as well. I'd probably do some of it myself, but I can't afford it. :-(
