Let me add a small clipping from CYCLING, May 13, 1932, p. 503, to the discussion.

"A Super Ordinary" The ordinary bicycle shown in the picture on this page was discovered recently by Mr. Frank B. Roper, the Sheffield cycle distributor, amongst a lot of scrap. On close examination it was found to be in good condition and an exquisite example of the early cycle makersĀ“ art, so it was decided to renovate it by enamelling and chromium plating." The article goes on to say what a wonderful specimen it was, and that it had been made in 1878 to suit the latest fashion.

What will people in 2076 say about our attempts at restoring bicycles? Will they wince as much as we do when we read the above clipping?

Regards,

Toni Theilmeier, Belm, Germany.
